My first blog is about standing still. That's no surprise to those who know me. If you don't pause regularly, you can't orient yourself. And if you don't know where you are, you can't take the next step in the right direction for today. An obvious truth, right? Yet, this simple truth is one that we hardly put into practice in our hectic daily lives.
What is the use of running if you are not on the right track?
So: stand still for a moment. Take the time to read this simple little poem. It only takes a few minutes. And it can color your day differently. Pause, shift your attention from your thoughts to your body, follow the movement of your breath, and remember that this is what matters:
Stand still.
Do not turn around,
and do not look ahead.
Do not count minutes, do not count hours –
breathe in and out.
Stand still.
Feel your body,
feel your skin.
Feel your feet on the earth –
breathe in and out.
Stand still.
And remember it again.
Never explain it to anyone.
Never explain it to anyone.
breathe her in and out.
